At Roadcraft Driving School in Ottawa, our Defensive Driving Course (DDC) is designed to help drivers meet Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) requirements, comply with the Highway Traffic Act, and become safer, more responsible drivers.

Why and Who Needs A Defensive Driving Course
You may be required or strongly recommended to complete a Defensive Driving Course in Ontario if:
Court Ordered: A judge may direct drivers convicted of serious traffic violations (such as careless or stunt driving) to complete a DDC as part of sentencing or to avoid harsher penalties.
MTO Ordered: The Ministry of Transportation may require drivers to take this course as a condition to reinstate a suspended or cancelled licence.
High Demerit Points: Drivers who have accumulated demerit points under the Highway Traffic Act may be ordered to complete the course to demonstrate improved driving habits.
Suspension or Cancellation: If your licence has been suspended or cancelled, the MTO may require a Defensive Driving Course before reinstatement.
Voluntary Enrollment: Many drivers also choose to take the course on their own to reduce collision risk, improve confidence, or potentially qualify for lower insurance rates (check with your insurance provider).
